Dr. R. Selvarajan, Director of ICAR-NRCB, Trichy, chairedthe session on "Plant Variety Registration" during the 5-Day IP Awareness Week organized by the ICAR-IPTM Unit and hosted by ICAR-NRCP, Solapur, on August 28, 2024. In his address, he highlighted the critical importance of plant variety registration, citing examples of ICAR-NRCB registered varieties such as Kaveri Sugantham. Sh. D. R. Choudhury, Joint Registrar of PPV&FRA, provided a detailed overview of the registration process for plant varieties. Additionally, Dr. H.C. Prasanna, Principal Scientist & Head of the Division of Vegetable Crops at ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore, shared insights and experiences regarding the registration process and the modalities for transferring vegetable varieties to companies. The sessions were hosted by Dr. Vikram Singh, Principal Scientist at the IPTM Unit, and Dr. Nilesh N. Gaikwad, Senior Scientist (AS&PE), ICAR-NRCP.
