The ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB) actively participated in the CCI-Delta Agri & Food Expo 2024, held from 4th to 6th October 2024 at Thilagar Thidal, Thanjavur. This agricultural extravaganza, organized by the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Thanjavur, attracted an impressive footfall of approximately 10,000 visitors, including farmers, entrepreneurs, officials, and members of the public, over the three-day event. Dr. R. Selvarajan, Director of ICAR-NRCB inaugurated the exhibition at the Expo. In his capacity as the Guest of Honour, he delivered an insightful address highlighting the role of ICAR-NRCB in advancing banana cultivation practices, improving productivity, and contributing to the socio-economic development of banana-growing regions. The NRCB's exhibition stall showcased a wide array of around 40 indigenous banana varieties from Tamil Nadu and other states. On 5th October 2024, ICAR-NRCB also conducted a Banana Workshop at the expo. During the technical session, scientists from various disciplines addressed key topics such as integrated banana cultivation, banana export, post-harvest techniques, and value-added products.
