ICAR - National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB), Tiruchirappalli, organized an Internship Training Programme from 11th September to 20th September, 2023 on “Advances in Agricultural Engineering”.Total 10 B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) students from School of Engineering and Technology, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Samayapuram, Tiruchirappalli,participated in the programme.
The students gainedhands on training onthe Mechanization aspects of banana cultivation, Post-harvest handling of fruits and vegetables (especially Banana), Banana waste utilization, Strategies for soil and water conservation, Emerging technologies for food processing, Non-destructive methods for detection of food quality,Thermochemical conversions of biomass, IoT and sensors in precision agriculture, Hydraulics in tractor system and Production technologies for various Banana based value-added products. They also learned about various techniques/equipment like High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission spectroscopy (ICP/OES), Texture Analyseretc.The interns were felicitated on 20th September, 2023. Dr. R. Selvarajan, Director, ICAR-NRCB, distributed certificates and addressed the students. Dr. M. Mayil Vaganan, Organizing Secretary and Nodal Officer HRD gave a welcome address.
