One day workshop on “Online digital marketing and branding in banana”

On February 9, 2024, the ICAR-National Research Center for Banana in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, organized a one-day workshop on "Online Digital Marketing and Branding in Banana." The event featured Ms. Pragati Gokhale, the Founder of Marketmirchi and Chief Mentor of Mission Mera Mobile Mera Marketing, as the chief guest. Dr. R. Selvarajan, the Director of ICAR-NRCB, presided over the workshop, which commenced with traditional rituals and a welcome address by Dr. M. S. Saraswathi. Dr. Selvarajan emphasized the importance of online/digital marketing for agricultural products. Dr. Pragati Gokhale presented insights on "Online Trade and Marketing of Bananas - Marketmirchi Perspectives," demonstrating the Marketmirchi platform connecting FPO, Farmers, Producers, Traders/Sellers and buyers. Participants actively engaged in learning to use the platform. DirectorsMr.A.Subramanian and Mr. Kalyanasundaram from Tamil Nadu Banana Producer Company Ltd shared their successful journey of developing value-added banana products. Mr. S. Periasamy discussed generating wealth from banana waste, promoting sustainability. Dr. K N Shiva highlighted the role of the Agri Business Incubation center and Institute Technology Management Unit in creating a banana-based business ecosystem. Participants (about 60 numbers from FPO, Progressive Farmers, Exporter, traders/sellers and buyers) actively participated in discussions, seeking guidance from the speakers, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. K N Shiva.
