Reaching the un-reached – An off-campus capacity development programme cum distribution of planting materials of new banana varieties @ Bharat Ka Amrit Mahotsav on 31.12.2021
As part of the 75th India’s Independence Day Celebration, ICAR - National Research Centre for Banana (NRCB), Trichy and ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ariyalur, TN have jointly organized an off-campus capacity development programme cum farm inputs distribution programme for banana farmers at Keelapalur village of Ariyalur district, TN on 31.12.2021. The farmers were apprised about the different aspects of banana technologies from new varieties to the post-harvest technologies. Dr. G. Alagukannan & Team of ICAR- KVK, Ariyalur were coordinated the programme at the district level. Dr. C. Karpagam, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NRCB (Agrl. Extension) explained the role of ICAR-NRCB in banana Research & Development and the importance of Natural farming in the current scenario. Dr. M. Loganathan, Principal Scientist discussed about the banana diseases & its management techniques. Dr. K. J. Jayabhaskaran, Principal Scientist (Soil Science) discussed the importance of Integrated Nutrient Management. As a part of the programme, banana suckers of NRCB released new varieties and Banana Shakthi – a micro nutrient mixture were distributed to the participants. Around 60 SC farmers were participated and got benefitted.
