Principal Scientist, National Research Centre for Banana, is specialized in Plant Nematology. He has a working experience of 36 years in various fields of plantation and horticultural crops with special reference to plant parasitic nematodes. He has developed a package for mass production of nematode egg parasitic fungi viz. Paecilomyces lilacinus and Pochonia chlamydosporia by using Banana wastes such as Banana dried leaves, petiole and pseudostem for the control of major Banana nematodes. Served as Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President of Indian Society for Plantation Crops (ISPC) during 1985 to 1996 at CPCRI, Kasargod, Kerala and currently is a General Secretary of Association for the Improvement in Production and Utilization of Banana (AIPUB).

He was the Acting director, NRC for Banana for two years during 1997-1999. Member in Promusa Working Group in Nematology of International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantains, (INIBAP), France, National Co-Ordinator for International Musa Testing Programme (IMTP) of INIBAP, France in India during 1998-1999. He has guided three Ph.D students and 35 M.Sc students for their project work and has been an external examiner for 12 M.Sc and 9 Ph.D students. Published awards received : C.S.Venkataraman Memorial Award ISPC Fellow, ISPC Silver Jubilee Honour, Banana Research Cum Extension Award, Kadali Puraskar and AIPUB Fellow.
