A total of eight M.Sc. Biochemistry students from Holy Cross College, Tiruchirappalli District, Tamil Nadu, participated in an internship training program titled ‘Techniques in Biochemistry and Biotechnology’ at the ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana from 11th to 15th November 2024. During the program, the students received hands-on training in various advanced techniques, including High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Spectrophotometry, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), DNA Isolation and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Gel Electrophoresis and Immunological Technique of Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Dr. R. Selvarajan, Director of the Centre gave away certificates to the students and exhorted student-trainees to acquire core knowledge on biochemistry by reading the book - Principle of Biochemistry by Albert Lehninger. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. K. Nagendran, Scientist. Dr. M. Mayil Vaganan, Course Director and Nodal Officer (HRD) presented the training report, and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. A. Mohanasundaram, Course Co-Director and Co-Nodal Officer (HRD).
