Musa germplasm Information system (MGIS) was developed by INIBAP, France support to ensure the safe conservation of Musa genetic resources. MGIS is a computerised database system, which allows genebank curators to manage all the information with the curators of other collections and with Musa researchers worldwide. To date, 34 scientists from more than 15 countries have been trained in the use of MGIS. Participation in MGIS will allow Musa researchers from all over India to share and exchange information about the different Banana varieties found in their region.
