ICAR-IISWC, RC, Koraput and ICAR-NRCB, Tiruchirappalli jointly organized one day training on Improved cultivation, Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Banana under SCSP project


In order to promote banana cultivation in Jhola land and to make aware about desired skill of improved banana cultivation, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Koraput in collaboration with ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Tiruchirapalli jointly organized one day training cum field demonstration on the topic “Improved cultivation ,Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Banana” at Research Farm of ICAR-IISWC,RC, Koraput on 24 Februrary, 2025.At the outset Sh. G.B.Naik welcome all the dignitaries including farmers ,women SHG members and staff of the centre and Dr. Jotirmayee Lenka, Scientist (Fruit Science) briefed about the training. While imparting training Dr R. Selvarajan, Pri. Sci & Head, ICAR-NRCB, Tiruchirappalli, explained in details on technical aspects including integrated nutrition, irrigation, diseases and pest management in banana cultivation. Dr S. Backiyarani, Principal scientist (Ag. Biotechnology) and Dr. S. Kalpana, DST Women Scientist, ICAR-NRCB briefed in details about the quality production of banana seedlings. Dr R. Devarajan, Pri. Sci & Head, ICAR-IISWC, RC, Koraput, highlighted about conducive environment of production and marketing prevailing in this region. Dr J. Lenka, Sci (Friut Sci.) imparted training on monetization of banana products.A total of 112 farmers/trainees comprising of farmers (70 nos.), women SHG members (42 nos) from 10 villages, 4 blocks ,Dist- Koraput ,Odisha participated in this training programme. All the staff of the research centre participated and actively involved in the organization of the training program.Dr. J.Lenka, Sci (Fruit. Sci) and Sh. G. B. Naik, ACTO, coordinated the training program and Sh G. W. Barla , STO, Proposed vote of thanks.
